LuxArchival Professional Sanded Paper

What makes this special?

Alyona experimented with her products and her coloured pencil painting method on several different sanded surfaces, but found that they all had individual shortcomings. In response, she designed a very special substrate which has been designed specifically for coloured pencil, and more precisely, for the coloured pencil painting technique that she describes in her books.

LuxArchival is great for use with both dry and wet media, and this white sanded paper can hold a phenomenal 30-plus layers of coloured pencil. Despite being designed specifically for coloured pencil, this paper works beautifully with pastel, charcoal and graphite. The paper is strong enough not to buckle when liquid is applied, and can be used with water, alcohol and odourless mineral spirits. To see how much water LuxArchival sanded paper can withstand without buckling, warping  or rolling, please watch this YouTube video

LuxArchival has a creamy white colour, which makes applied transparent and translucent colours shine with brilliance, and will not compromise hue, value or the intensity of the coloured pencil pigment that is laid down. The sanded surface is even and consistent, without any visible patterns, is bonded to a backing paper made from 100% cotton, and has a durable grit that withstands repeated erasures, corrections and working without damage to the paper. The paper is acid-free, lignin-free, archival and compliant with ISO 11108. The paper will not yellow, darken, become brittle or deteriorate in any way for 100+ years.
